Overview
Crossbreeding turns two bloomed flowers into a new seed. This guide covers how it works, what you'll need from NPCs and shops, and a few extra tips reported by the community.
How Crossbreeding Works
- Crossbreeding happens after 6:00 a.m. server time. Check back after that time to see whether an attempt succeeded.
- Only flowers of the same species/type can crossbreed. A rose only crossbreeds with another rose, never with a tulip.
- Color does not affect the seed result. Two different-colored flowers of the same species can crossbreed with each other, and the color of the resulting seed is not determined by the parents' colors.
- Star level matters. Parents must have the same star count, or only a one-star difference.
- 5⭐ flowers no longer provide seeds. They've reached the maximum tier.
- Watering increases the success chance of a crossbreeding attempt.
- Up to 5 people can help water a single attempt.
- If crossbreeding succeeds, a seed appears.
Worked example: a 1⭐ flower and a 3⭐ flower of the same species are *not* compatible — the gap is two stars, which exceeds the one-star-difference rule above.
Flower Variants vs. Breeding Rules
This wiki catalogs flowers by color — Red Rose, White Rose, Black Rose, and so on — because each color is a distinct, real item with its own artwork. Players collect and view them individually, and the catalog needs one entry per asset to represent that.
That's a catalog decision, not a breeding one. Color variants are not currently treated as separate breeding-rule outputs. Breeding logic is species/type- and star-level-based — color is visual/catalog metadata only, unless a later reliable source proves otherwise.
Examples
Black Rose and White Rose are both Rose variants. For catalog pages, they're separate items because they have distinct assets. For breeding logic, the important relationship is that both are Rose, and their star levels are compatible (the same, or one star apart) — their color is not a breeding input.
A Black Rose and a Black Tulip, on the other hand, cannot crossbreed at all — different species, regardless of matching color or star level.
NPC & Shop Info
Blanc is the Gardening mentor, and his shop's flower-seed listings are checked directly against this wiki's own NPC and shop data. His shop does not currently have a matching "Rainbow Bag"/"Rainbow Breeding Powder" or "Rainbow Bouquet" catalog entry — see the tips below for those.
Additional Tips (Player-Reported)
The details below come from player reports rather than this wiki's own verified data — treat them as helpful, but not guaranteed.
- A successful crossbreed's seed is reported to appear above the flower, not beside it.
- Each flower is reported to produce at most one new seed per day.
- Flowers are reported to need to be fully bloomed before they can crossbreed at all — newly planted seeds don't participate until they flower.
- Seeds bought from Blanc are reported to be 1-star — *not confirmed in this wiki's data*: there's no star-level field on seed items in this wiki's catalog to check this against.
- Some players report that higher Gardening level gives a watering bonus.
On exact pairing outcomes: the confirmed rule is only that parents need the same star count or a one-star difference (see the rules above). Some players report more specific pairing-to-result expectations (e.g. that same-tier pairs are the most reliable way to reach the next tier), but exact output percentages or guaranteed results aren't confirmed by this wiki's own data — treat any such claim as unconfirmed.
On color-to-star mapping: some players report that, for at least some species, each color corresponds to a fixed star tier (for example, a claim that Daisy's five colors map one-to-one to its five star tiers). This is not confirmed, and it isn't currently modeled in this wiki's flower-variant data (variant items don't carry a star-level field). If a reliable source ever confirms this, it would be a real modeling question for how flower variants are structured here — not something to hardcode into this guide ahead of that.
Rainbow Bag / Rainbow Breeding Powder — reported to guarantee a crossbreed when applied to a bloomed flower, unlocking around Gardening Level 6, with Blanc reportedly giving a few free ones before a Gold/Wishing Stars cost applies. This item does not currently exist in this wiki's item catalog, so none of these specifics (unlock level, cost, guarantee rate) are verifiable here — treat all of it as unconfirmed.
Rainbow Bouquet — reported to have a random chance of triggering a similar effect when watering flowers that are ready to crossbreed. Community reports vary on how often this triggers; treat it as a possible bonus, not a guarantee. Like the Rainbow Bag, this item is not currently in this wiki's item catalog.
Some players report that a Rainbow Bag's effect persists on a flower if it's stored in inventory before use. Not confirmed — use at your own risk.
On garden layout: placement tactics such as 3×3 grids with the highest-star flower in the center, or paired/short-line layouts, are commonly suggested by players. None of this is confirmed by this wiki's own data — treat garden layout as experimentation, not a documented mechanic.
Current Limitations
This page documents mechanics only. The wiki does not yet include a breeding calculator or a full structured breeding-rule dataset — there's no way here to look up "what seed will these two exact flowers produce." That's intentionally out of scope until a reliable source confirms exact outcome rules, including whether color-to-star mapping is real.
